Gems On Display · Original wholesale research · October 2025–September 2026
How can jewelry retailers choose display colors and materials that work well together? We reviewed 12 months of Gems On Display wholesale order records to explore how different display collections appear within the same purchases—and what shoppers should consider when building their own assortments.
Our analysis identified wholesale orders containing more than one jewelry display color or material. That tells us retailers sometimes purchase across collections rather than selecting only one finish. It does not tell us how those displays were arranged, why customers chose them, or whether a particular combination increased jewelry sales.
For jewelry retailers, this highlights an important purchasing consideration: selecting a primary display finish does not mean every showcase or jewelry collection needs to use the same material. The combinations below are practical styling examples, not measured retail outcomes.
What the purchasing study tells us
Verified order descriptions showed instances of different display collections purchased together.
Velvet, leatherette, linen, suede-look finishes, and acrylic have different visual characteristics worth comparing before ordering.
The study did not measure store layouts, customer preferences, or retail conversion rates.
These are deliberately broad findings. Product-level demand, color rankings, co-purchase percentages, and customer reorder behavior are not published.
Compare complementary jewelry display finishes
The combinations below are merchandising examples, not rankings from the study. Use them to compare contrast, texture, and presentation for your own jewelry collection.
Black Velvet + White Leatherette
High contrast can help separate collections visually. Consider the lighting and jewelry finishes in your showcase.
Black Velvet displays · White LeatheretteBeige Linen + Beige Faux Suede
Related neutral tones can create a softer presentation while offering different surface textures.
Linen displays · Beige Faux SuedeGrey Leatherette + White Leatherette
Two restrained finishes can offer visual variety without introducing a bold accent color.
Grey Leatherette · White LeatheretteBlue Leatherette + Acrylic
A colored base and a visually lighter material may suit displays that need separation between featured pieces and supporting items.

How to choose displays for your jewelry store
- Start with your jewelry. Consider the metal tones, gemstones, size, and details that need to remain visible.
- Choose a primary material. Select a finish that fits your store's presentation and is available in the display styles you need.
- Compare a second finish. Decide whether contrast or a closely related tone better suits your showcase.
- Check the complete assortment. Look for necklace busts, ring holders, earring displays, and trays that serve your merchandising needs.
- Keep a record of your choices. Save the collection names or product SKUs so future replenishment is easier.
Frequently asked questions
Which jewelry display colors should I use together?
Start with your existing display finish and the jewelry you sell. Black and white provide contrast; related beige or grey tones offer a more restrained look. These are styling considerations, not conclusions about retail sales performance.
Does the research show which combinations sell more jewelry?
No. The research examines wholesale orders placed with Gems On Display, not purchases made by shoppers in jewelry stores.
Should every display in my store match?
Not necessarily. A consistent main finish can create continuity, while a second finish may help distinguish a product group. The right choice depends on your merchandise and layout.
Can I reorder the same display styles later?
Keep your product names and SKUs for reference. Availability may change, so check current listings or contact Gems On Display before planning a replenishment order.
Research methodology and limitations
Research period: October 1, 2025–September 30, 2026. Source: Gems On Display historical Shopify order line-item exports.
We reviewed verified line-item descriptions to identify qualifying jewelry display material and color collections appearing within the same wholesale order. Ambiguous product descriptions and non-display packaging items were excluded from the color analysis. Each qualifying combination was counted at the order level rather than as a measure of units sold.
Order-level co-purchasing does not reveal how items were used, whether they were displayed together, why customers chose them, or whether they improved retail sales. Product availability and the assortment offered during the period can affect observed patterns. Findings reflect Gems On Display's historical orders, not the entire jewelry industry.
To protect customer and business confidentiality, this public summary does not disclose detailed pairing percentages, product rankings, sales volumes, customer identities, or reorder data.
